Wellness Not As Common in Meeting Strategy
06/26/2017
The Incentive Research Foundation recently conducted a survey of planners and hoteliers to see how wellness is being integrated into meetings and conventions, as well as incentive travel. The survey shows that planners may be personally vested in wellness, but that commitment doesn’t necessarily parlay into their corporate events with less than 50 percent realizing a connection between their company’s commitment to wellness and their meeting strategy.
For those that do integrate wellness into their events, the most common food and beverage offerings are water, healthy snacks, lean meats and gluten free options. Smoke-free properties and facilities represent an easy win for meeting planners, and free access to a fitness facility is often possible. More challenging are zero-waste meeting design and activities for groups and attendees of various ability levels.
