DNC Host Committee Lays Off Staff
05/01/2020
The future of the state’s first national political party convention scheduled to take place in Milwaukee in August, remains in limbo. In the most recent news, the Democratic National Convention Host Committee has reassigned or laid off half of the staff responsible for planning and running the convention, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The staff originally numbering 31 is now down to 14.
While there’s been speculation that the convention may be held virtually, Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez says he still intends to hold an “in-person” national convention.
Originally scheduled for July 13-16, the event was recently rescheduled for the week of August 17.
